By Road: Mizoram has a strong network of roads and links all the major cities and towns. Mizoram is linked via the National Highway to Silchar and Shillong. Mizoram State Transport buses run daily to Guwahati, Silchar and Shillong from Aizawl. The name of the town was originally Siaha, exposing the mystery behind the name of the town, where ‘Sia’ stands for elephant, and ‘ha’ means tooth – an elephant tooth. But historically, the Mizos call it Saiha.
